Gangtok: A shifting landslide in Sikkim's Gyalshing district hit Rimbi-Singlitam Friday night. The earth keeps moving. Over 150 people now face immediate danger as the slide encroaches on homes and farmland.

Thirty homes in Rimbi and eight in Singlitam sit in the path of destruction. Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang's press secretary, Yougan Tamang, confirmed the response. "Rescue and relief operations are underway in the area," he said. Officials are moving fast to clear the residents out.

The government is currently finding temporary shelters for the displaced families. Local MLA and minister TT Bhutia arrived on the scene to grill officials and push for faster relief. He demanded that teams speed up the evacuation process.

The state has ordered a full technical inspection of the slope. Engineers must map the landslide's path and calculate the damage to the terrain. Sub-divisional magistrates, block officers, and local panchayat leaders are on the ground coordinating the response right now.
