Shillong: Traffic congestion at Anjalee Junction in Shillong is getting worse. A newly opened bypass road designed to ease the flow is now packed with vehicles during peak hours. The persistent gridlock creates a nightmare for local motorists.
A Rs 3.5 crore project aimed at fixing the mess remains unfinished. Officials planned a redesigned rotary and streetscape improvements to move cars faster. These efforts currently fall flat. The work drags on at a crawl, drawing heavy criticism from the public.
Both the main junction and the bypass road fail to provide any relief. Commuters remain trapped in the cycle of daily delays. As one frustrated resident noted, "The link road, constructed to bypass the junction, is already struggling with a heavy rush of vehicles during peak hours." The project sits in limbo while drivers wait for a solution that has yet to arrive.
