Kohima: The three-day polyclinic held at the Urban Primary Health Centre in Seikhazou wrapped up on Thursday after providing specialist medical services to 253 patients. Funded by the 15th Finance Commission, the program aimed to bring essential healthcare directly to the community.

Dr. Bilva Yalie, the medical officer at the centre, reported that the initiative was well received by the public. Many attendees expressed gratitude for the ability to consult with specialists without the burden of traveling to distant district hospitals. Dr. Yalie described the program as fairly successful, noting that the feedback from patients had been encouraging.

Throughout the event, residents received care from a variety of specialists. Dr. Victor Semy from the State Mental Health Institute, Dr. Khriemenuo Koza from NHAK, and Dr. Avibo S. Jakhalu from NIMSR provided services mid-week, while Dr. Senjele Kath from NHAK managed patient care on the final day. The center reported that no serious medical cases emerged during the clinic.

For those requiring advanced diagnostics or complex management, the team provided referrals to the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima and other appropriate facilities. Looking ahead, the centre plans to host similar polyclinics monthly through November. The medical team intends to use social media and community bulletins to ensure residents in peripheral areas are aware of future schedules. Dr. Yalie stated that the centre remains committed to this outreach, adding, "Many patients expressed satisfaction as they were able to access specialist healthcare services at their doorstep without having to travel to district hospitals or other healthcare facilities."
