Imphal: Security forces intensified counter-insurgency operations across Manipur on June 15 and 16, resulting in the arrest of four individuals and the destruction of 26 fortified bunkers. These actions aim to improve law and order and curb insurgent activities throughout the state.

On June 16, authorities arrested RY Ambison in Kangpokpi district, seizing 160 litres of liquor and an auto-rickshaw. In Imphal East, personnel apprehended Yumnam Seityajit Mangang with a .22 calibre revolver and nine rounds of ammunition. Additionally, two active cadres of the proscribed RPF/PLA were captured in the Imphal West district on June 15.

Military operations also targeted illegal fortifications in the hill districts. Security personnel dismantled 14 bunkers on June 16, including sites along the Mogkot Chepu to Patlijang stretch and the Lungphu Junction to Industrial Estate Centre area. This followed the destruction of 12 bunkers in the Ukhrul district a day earlier.

The recovery efforts during these raids yielded significant materials. Officials retrieved one pair of binoculars, eight live rounds of SBBL ammunition, and numerous spent shell casings. Highlighting the scale of the ongoing security measures, officials stated, "The operations form part of ongoing security measures aimed at maintaining law and order and addressing insurgency-related activities in the state."
