Pressure mounts to scrap Rajabala school committee

Shillong: The A·chik State Peoples’ Front is pushing to dissolve the newly formed managing committee at Rajabala Higher Secondary School. The group claims the body is illegal. They filed a formal complaint with the West Garo Hills District School Education Officer on June 22.

Trouble started after the Meghalaya High Court dissolved the previous committee on June 12. The ASPF says the school skipped a required meeting to set up the new board. They spotted a conflict of interest immediately. The current president works as a Block Resource Person for Samagra Siksha Abhiyan.

The secretary serves as a principal at a different school. The group claims government employees cannot run deficit school boards without official clearance. They also flagged the presence of outsiders on the committee. These people have no kids in the school and zero connection to the institution.

The ASPF views these moves as a direct violation of state conduct rules. They want the committee gone now. The organization is demanding quick departmental action against the government staff involved. The group issued a firm warning: "The organisation has set a seven-day deadline for action, warning that it will otherwise approach the High Court or the Meghalaya Lokayukta."
