Police Officer Advises Pfutsero Government College Freshers on Discipline

Kohima: Gautam Ramneek, the Sub-Divisional Police Officer for Pfutsero, told more than 100 new students at Pfutsero Government College to trade procrastination for discipline. He spoke during the institution's 44th Freshers' Day on August 8. The officer urged the crowd to set concrete goals and keep their focus sharp.

Ramneek warned that freedom without structure leads to wasted potential. He pointed to Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps to show that steady work beats natural talent every time. He told the students, "Identify their goals clearly and write them down." He also wants them to use tools like ChatGPT for learning but to keep their own heads in the game.

Progress needs people, not just roads. Ramneek argued that Nagaland thrives when its human resources grow. He pushed for better communication and sports involvement to round out their skills.

Dr. Anungla Pongener, the college principal, echoed these sentiments. She drew on 30 years of teaching to remind students that a degree is only a start. Students must pick up computer, digital, and vocational skills to actually get hired. She warned everyone against the black hole of social media and endless smartphone scrolling.

The event celebrated the start of the school year with student contests. Sedewe Kazhie took home the title of Mr. Freshers 2026. Luzolu Tetseo claimed the Miss Freshers title. Chewe Elah and Wate-u Lasushe earned first runner-up honors, while Tshelo and Tsulu Lohe placed second.
