Police hunt for poisoner after dogs die in Shillong

Shillong: Investigators in Shillong have yet to make an arrest following the poisoning of several stray animals in the Laban area. Police are currently gathering evidence and waiting on forensic results from food samples and a bird carcass found at the scene.

Animal welfare activist Viveca Blah is working with Inspector Khan to secure CCTV footage from the Circuit House. They hope the recordings reveal who targeted the animals. Activists believe the culprit likely gained the trust of the dogs before feeding them tainted food.

Blah is nursing the lone survivor at a facility in Malki. The dog is showing signs of recovery despite initial concerns about severe liver damage. "If necessary, we will pursue the information through the proper legal channels," Blah said regarding the ongoing investigation.

The threat extends beyond local animals. Activists warned that leaving toxins in public spaces poses a grave danger to children and residents living in the area. Volunteers continue to fund the dog's medical care while pushing for a swift resolution to the case.
