Poland Praises Modi as Global Leader Capable of Influencing Putin

Shillong: Wladyslaw Teofil Bartoszewski, Poland’s Secretary of State and Deputy Foreign Minister, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a pragmatic and charismatic global force. During his visit to New Delhi on Tuesday, the Polish official credited the Prime Minister with transforming India. He stated, "He’s a major global leader; there’s no question about that. I mean, he’s extremely competent, extremely accomplished. India has changed phenomenally under his leadership."

Bartoszewski expressed faith in the projection that India will become the world's third-largest economy by 2047. He argued that the Prime Minister maintains enough influence to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the Ukraine conflict. The diplomat noted that Putin pays attention to the Indian leader's counsel.

The two nations share deep concerns regarding maritime shipping lanes. Both countries support the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. Bartoszewski warned that blocking routes like the Strait of Hormuz or the Strait of Malacca threatens global economic security. Poland intends to work closely with India to keep these waters open.

Poland also wants to share security intelligence. After experiencing severed underwater cables in the Baltic Sea, Warsaw seeks to learn from Indian efforts to protect infrastructure outside territorial waters. The Polish government views India as a vital partner for building robust water infrastructure and stabilizing the Indo-Pacific region.
