Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma says Prime Minister Narendra Modi owns the top spot in Indian politics. The gap between him and other leaders is massive. Sarma dismissed any chance of a future rival matching Modi’s reach.
Sarma’s comments follow the February 2026 India Today-CVoter Mood of the Nation survey results. The data shows 55 per cent of respondents name Modi as their top pick for Prime Minister. He continues to hold a firm grip on public opinion.
Sarma spoke to the press on Friday to frame the survey as proof of a lasting trend. He stated, "Modi's popularity has no comparison. As Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is popular today, was popular yesterday and will remain popular in the future as well."
The Chief Minister insisted the trend will outlast the current political cycle. He does not expect anyone to challenge this dominance in the coming years. For now, the numbers back him up.
