Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma blasted Rahul Gandhi on October 7. He spoke at a Varanasi event celebrating 25 years of Narendra Modi as an elected official. Sarma declared that Gandhi remains powerless against the Prime Minister. The event marked a quarter-century of public life for Modi, featuring a bike rally that linked his birthplace of Vadnagar, Gujarat, to Varanasi.
Sarma leaned into religious rhetoric to defend the leader. He shouted, "Rahul Gandhi, you listen, as long as there is the power of Sanatan in India, you cannot harm even a hair of Narendra Modi." He credited Modi for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. He claimed that the administration drove out Babur to reclaim the site formerly associated with the Babri Masjid.
The Chief Minister boasted about national security gains. He asserted that Naxalism is finished and peace has returned. He noted that India now strikes back at Pakistan rather than enduring attacks on its own Parliament. Sarma predicted the BJP would retain control in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Assam for 50 years. He urged party workers to intensify their efforts under the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan.
