Oting Citizens Thank Volunteers After Tiru Valley Drowning

Kohima: Oting citizens and the family of the late Pongshing K expressed their thanks on Saturday to the volunteers who recovered his body. Pongshing K died on July 19. He was swept away by a flash flood in the Tiru Valley. The incident left a deep hole in the hearts of his family and the community.

The family relied on local help during the search. They relied on others for strength. The Upper Tiru Village Council earned special recognition for their immediate response and coordination. Local divers braved dangerous conditions to find the body.

Church groups and civil society organizations provided logistical aid and spiritual comfort. The Konyak Union stepped in with financial help and emotional support. The family statement reflected their pain and appreciation. They prayed for blessings upon those who showed compassion. The statement noted, "The support, solidarity and assistance extended during the tragedy provided them with strength and comfort during a difficult period."
