Konyak Union Slaps Back at NSCN-K Over Fuel Station Threats

Kohima: The Konyak Union ordered Hapwang Konyak of NSCN-K (Angmai) to report to its headquarters within seven days. This move follows reports that he threatened Mon district petrol pump dealers. The Mon District Petrol Pump Dealers Union responded to his order to visit their camp by announcing a total fuel station shutdown starting August 8. The union calls this intimidation unacceptable.

"We cannot accept such cross-border summoning of business owners especially during this difficult situation. This is totally in contravenes to the resolution of the KU," the union stated in a letter signed by President K Yamao Konyak and General Secretary Wango Konyak. They expect the NSCN-K leadership to force Hapwang Konyak to appear and explain his actions.

Mon district faces a brutal humanitarian crisis. Flash floods and soil erosion have destroyed livestock, crops, and terrace fields. Roads are gone. Schools are closed. On July 6, the union banned all tax and ration collection to shield locals from further hardship. Village councils and Anghs now have orders to stop all collection efforts. The union insists the focus must remain on relief and clearing vital infrastructure.
