ONGC Commits to Rebuilding Assam Schools After Floods

Guwahati: ONGC will bankroll the repair and rehabilitation of flood-damaged schools in the Sivasagar and Charaideo districts of Assam. The Nazira-based Assam Asset unit approved this move under its CSR and CER programs. The company intends to work closely with the state government and district officials to select schools, pending necessary budget approvals and legal steps.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma already received word of this commitment. Uday Paswan, the ONGC Assam Asset Manager, shared the plan Thursday while handing out food and medicine to flood victims at Ghilaguri in Betbari. The floods hit the company hard. Operations in Sivasagar and Nazira remain stalled, and company housing in Sivasagar, Nazira, and Lakwa took a major blow. Drilling and production numbers suffered.

Despite the damage, the firm continues its relief work. Paswan noted, "ONGC would continue extending assistance to the affected communities in the days ahead." Teams distributed supplies at Betbari and various other Sivasagar sites throughout Thursday. The company expects to keep up these efforts until the region stabilizes.
