Guwahati: The Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, is leading a massive flood relief effort in Upper Assam. Teams are targeting veteran families hit hard by rising waters. They reached 250 families across 40 villages in Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Jorhat districts over the last two weeks. Relief workers distributed medicine, drinking water, and other supplies to people in need.
The agency donated Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Brig Polash Choudhary, SM (Retd), praised the ongoing effort. "Veterans have always stood for service and solidarity," Choudhary stated. The operation prioritizes seniors, children, and people with disabilities displaced by the disaster.
Coordination remains vital. Zila Sainik Welfare Offices in Sivasagar, Jorhat, and Dibrugarh managed the logistics alongside local officials and volunteers. The team received critical help from HQ 41 Sub Area/101 Area to reach isolated homes. The Directorate is now asking the public to donate funds or goods to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to keep the aid flowing to those in desperate straits.
