Kohima: A joint team swept through Satakha town on July 16 to purge shelves of dangerous goods. They raided more than seven wholesale and retail shops. The Satakha Range Students Union led the charge, backed by the Satakha Town Youth Organisation, local police, district administration, and civil society groups. Officials found massive quantities of expired food and grocery items. They destroyed the stock on the spot to keep it out of local pantries.
The search team flagged products missing vital information. Many items lacked manufacturing or expiry dates entirely. Other goods featured only a vague Best Before label. Officials warned that these tags confuse shoppers about actual safety. One official noted, The inspection team also observed that several food and grocery products lacked essential labeling, including manufacturing and expiry dates.
Shop owners must stop selling these products now. They remain under orders to hold all sales until a formal meeting confirms compliance. Authorities want store quality verified by a competent body. Shoppers need to stay alert. Check every label before you buy. Report any suspicious items to the authorities immediately.
