NSCN (IM) Disavows Four Men Detained by Security Forces in Manipur

Kohima: The NSCN (IM) issued a formal denial on July 19 regarding four men picked up by Indian security forces in Manipur. The group distanced itself from the detainees following reports of their arrest earlier this month.

Security forces reportedly took the individuals into custody on July 14. This operation took place in the Sharkaphung area within the jurisdiction of the Litan Police Station. The outfit identified the four men as Wungphayo Kasar, 24, A S Ninglum, 29, Yaoreingam Lungleng, 24, and Vareiyo Lungleng, 56.

The Ministry of Information and Publicity released a statement clarifying that these people hold no ties to the group. They are not members. They are not associates. "The persons named above are not members, associates or representatives of the organisation," the statement read. The outfit provided this information to set the record straight for the public.
