NSCN-IM Denies Link to Deadly Manipur Ambush

Kohima: The NSCN-IM denied any part in a Monday ambush that killed two Assam Rifles soldiers near Hungpung village in Manipur. The attack occurred around 1:30 pm at the Nungshang River area. Security forces launched a search operation immediately after the strike.

Reports pinned the attack on a suspected breakaway group called the Eastern Flank. The NSCN-IM slammed these claims in a press release. The group insists its structure does not include such a unit. "There exist no Eastern Flank in the Naga Army of the NSCN/GPRN," the statement said.

The leadership maintains it had no knowledge of the ambush. They claim full dedication to the existing ceasefire agreement with the Indian government. The organization fears violence might derail long-term political negotiations. They want a peaceful fix to the Indo-Naga conflict.

No group has taken credit for the deaths of the 40 Assam Rifles personnel. The NSCN-IM urged all sides to show restraint. They believe stability is vital to the ongoing talks.
