Kohima: The Naga People's Front (NPF) Central Farmers' Wing has announced a comprehensive statewide tour designed to engage directly with agricultural communities across Nagaland. During a press conference in Kohima, wing president Vikheho Swu explained that the initiative, termed an appreciative inquiry tour, aims to identify ground realities, recognize successful farmers, and foster the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.

To ensure full coverage, the organization will deploy three separate teams to visit all districts, including Tuensang and Mon. These teams are tasked with interacting with farmers, stakeholders, local officials, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra centers. While the wing acknowledged the state government's ongoing support through the provision of seeds, saplings, and farming tools, they emphasized that the sector faces critical hurdles. Specifically, participants will address the impact of climate change, erratic weather patterns, and the demographic shift as younger generations migrate toward urban white-collar employment.

General secretary Chikrokroyo Kezo highlighted that the tour will facilitate better coordination between farmers and government departments to improve access to essential agricultural schemes and resources. Regarding the evolution of local farming, Swu noted that while moving away from traditional Jhum cultivation requires careful collective decision-making due to its deep cultural roots, the shift toward climate-resilient crops and modern techniques is essential for long-term food security.
