Kohima: Nagaland’s Department of Health and Family Welfare rolled out a GPS-enabled Mobile Medical Unit in Noklak district this Friday. The truck brings primary care to remote areas. It operates as a Mobile Ayushman Arogya Mandir, delivering essential health services directly to residents.
TATA AIG General Insurance funded the project through its corporate social responsibility arm. The company’s representatives, Madhukar Sinha and Devang Pandya, noted this is their third unit in the state, timed to mark their 25th anniversary. The initiative aims to drive social impact in underserved regions.
Commissioner and Secretary Anoop Khinchi urged locals to focus on healthy living. He pushed for public awareness regarding diet and long-term wellness. National Health Mission Director Dr. Keveduyi Theyo called the arrival a major milestone. Noklak previously relied on a shared unit from Tuensang. Now, the district has its own dedicated resource.
Medical partners Joseph Julian and P Bhoopathy from Swasti confirmed the program supplies roughly 20 to 22 lakh rupees in equipment across six districts. They viewed the move as a lasting commitment to reach difficult terrain. Julian and Bhoopathy stated, "The initiative is a long-term commitment rather than a one-time intervention."
Local leaders including Tuensang Chief Medical Officer Dr. Imlitemsu Ozukum and Khiamniungan Union Kohima president Dr. Thanghoi Lam joined department officials at the ceremony. Neikule of The Entrepreneurs Associates closed the event. Dignitaries flagged off the unit immediately following the speeches.
