Kohima: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai wrapped up a two-day inspection in Mokokchung on July 6. He checked on infrastructure progress and met with local officials to demand better results from centrally sponsored programs. He wants clear plans, accountability, and speed. Benefits must reach the public.
Rai spent time at the Ungma Village Council and toured the local library and museum. He praised efforts to protect the history of the Ao people. The minister also made a stop at the Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital to see work moving forward under the Purvottar Sampark Setu programme.
The minister spoke about the value of the nation. "India's strength lies in its diversity and noted that preserving indigenous traditions and cultural heritage is essential for future generations," Rai told the crowd. He also recognized Padma Shri winner Guru Sangyusang Pongener for his work in keeping traditional arts alive.
District officials sat down with the minister at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall to hash out progress reports. Rai pointed to the natural advantages of Nagaland for organic farming. He pushed for smarter use of resources to help local livelihoods grow. Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma led the session while departments laid out their successes and current hurdles.
