Kohima: The Department of Rural Development held training in Jalukie on July 8 for the People’s Plan Campaign. This push targets the creation of Gram Panchayat Development Plans for the 2026-27 financial year. Officials met at the Women Hall to align strategy for rural growth.
Project director Rongsenmenla opened the session. She told attendees that, "the GPDP forms the foundation for inclusive and sustainable rural development." She pushed line departments to work directly with frontline workers to build plans based on actual village needs.
District Programme Manager Megoselhu Thou outlined the campaign framework. He focused on getting the community involved in every step. Meanwhile, Dzuthovoyi Kapfo explained how Self-Help Groups and local organizations fit into the Village Poverty Reduction Plan. Officials from 16 departments attended the event. Representatives from Social Welfare, Fisheries, and Water Resources presented their current schemes to ensure all government efforts move in the same direction.
