Imphal: The North East Students’ Organisation (NESO) has issued a sharp condemnation following the discovery of six Naga men from Konsakhul Naga village who were murdered after being abducted. The victims were taken from Leilon Vaiphei village on May 13, 2026, and their dismembered remains were recovered nearly a month later on June 10, 2026.
Expressing profound shock at the nature of the crime, the organization stated it was “deeply horrified” by reports that the men were subjected to torture and mutilation before their deaths. NESO described the incident as an act of senseless cruelty that reflects a worsening security climate in Manipur.
In a formal statement, NESO demanded a swift and transparent investigation to identify and prosecute all responsible parties. The group emphasized that the ongoing violence continues despite the presence of thousands of Central security forces in the region. They questioned why no individuals have been effectively convicted for the numerous killings and abductions reported over the past three years.
The organization also raised concerns regarding the conduct of security personnel, asserting that any evidence of bias or negligence must result in immediate legal action. NESO warned that the current culture of impunity only serves to embolden perpetrators. They urged the Indian government to prioritize the safety of all citizens, restore public trust, and take decisive steps to bring an end to the cycle of violence in the region.
