NEHU and NERIE Open New Job Roles in Shillong

Shillong: North Eastern Hill University and the North East Regional Institute of Education have opened applications for new roles in Shillong. Both institutions are looking for qualified professionals for research and teaching jobs starting in 2026.

NEHU needs a Research Assistant for the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics. The project focuses on fermented bamboo shoots in North East India. Prof. S.R. Joshi leads the project. You must have a B.Sc. in Life Sciences and experience in a microbiology lab. Applicants need to send their documents to the Principal Investigator at NEHU, Shillong, by August 3, 2026. Stipend pay follows project funding norms.

NERIE is hiring two Assistant Professors. One role covers Physical Science and the other covers Social Science. Both pay 45,000 rupees per month. You need a postgraduate degree and an M.Ed. with at least 55 percent marks, or 50 percent for reserved categories. Candidates usually need a NET or SLET score. However, those with a qualified Ph.D. degree are exempt. As stated in the official announcement, "Provided candidates, who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission regulations, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SLET/SET for recruitment."

Show up for the NERIE interviews on August 6, 2026. Arrive between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Bring your filled application form, copies of your credentials, and a passport-sized photo. You must present your original documents at the session. If you forget your originals, the staff will block you from the interview.
