Shillong: Aradhana Patnaik, the Mission Director of the National Health Mission and Additional Secretary in the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, recently traveled to Meghalaya to inspect the state's healthcare delivery systems. During her visit, she focused on evaluating how health programs function at the grassroots level.

Patnaik toured various rural facilities, including the Laitkynsew Primary Health Centre in the East Khasi Hills district. There, she met with health personnel and Accredited Social Health Activists to discuss the practical challenges they face while providing care in remote areas. She examined current strategies designed to bolster primary healthcare services across the region.

The visit highlighted the importance of frontline staff in maintaining essential medical access. Patnaik praised these workers for their role in the state's health infrastructure, noting the collective goal of both the central and state governments to provide quality medical care. Reflecting on the effort required to reach isolated populations, she acknowledged the contribution of frontline healthcare workers and ASHAs in ensuring the effective delivery of essential health services, particularly in remote and rural areas.
