Kohima: Four research scholars from Nagaland University recently participated as online delegates in the 13th World Bank Group Youth Summit. Held in Washington, D.C., on June 11 and 12, the event centered on the theme of FutureWorks: Designing Jobs for the Digital Age. Swarnanjali Ghosh, Manisha Senapati, Anish Sunwar, and Kezevinuo Nguzhu earned their spots at the summit after a competitive selection process based on their academic credentials.
The international gathering focused on critical topics including technology, entrepreneurship, education, and skills development. Participants aimed to generate ideas for creating sustainable employment opportunities globally. Prof Jayanta Choudhury, head of the Department of Rural Development and Planning, noted the significance of this engagement. He stated, "Participation in international platforms such as the World Bank Group Youth Summit helps young researchers with valuable exposure to global development issues and broadens their academic perspective."
The scholars highlighted the importance of digital tools in addressing rural development challenges. Anish Sunwar described the event as an insightful experience that expanded his views on youth leadership. Meanwhile, other participants emphasized that fostering entrepreneurship could drive significant economic growth and create local jobs within Nagaland. The university continues to encourage its students to engage in global forums to promote knowledge exchange and leadership in rural transformation.
