Kohima: Nagaland is looking to put its distinct culinary landscape at the center of its tourism strategy. According to the state government's Annual Administrative Report 2025-26, officials intend to promote ethnic Naga dishes and local brews to draw more visitors to the region.
The department views gastronomy tourism as a way to integrate visitors into the local way of life. The strategy extends beyond dining, as the state plans to encourage travelers to visit local producers, join cooking classes, and participate in food festivals. These efforts aim to highlight the history, economy, and society that define the territory.
The report emphasizes that food is a key bridge between the region and its guests. "This bears the natural potential to enrich the visitor experience, establishing a direct connection to the region, its people, culture and heritage," the document stated.
