Kohima: The All Nagaland College Students Union initiated a statewide agitation on Friday to protest the government's failure to begin construction on a 100-bed girls hostel at Kohima Science College in Jotsoma. Students across affiliated colleges observed Black Friday by hoisting black flags to demonstrate against the prolonged inaction surrounding the infrastructure project.

The union argues the hostel is essential for the welfare, safety, and academic success of female students. Despite multiple appeals and formal representations, the student body claims the government has ignored the issue for too long. Describing the demand as non-negotiable, the union stated, "The government of forcing students to resort to democratic forms of protest due to prolonged inaction."

Student leaders warned that the movement will intensify if the government continues to ignore their demands. The union has instructed all affiliated units to remain prepared for further action, including the possibility of a large-scale protest rally in the coming days. According to the union, the state government will be held entirely responsible for any future escalation if the project remains stalled.
