Nagaland Pushes Smart Meters and Solar Power in Peren

Kohima: Nagaland’s Department of Power held a briefing at the Peren Town Council Hall this Saturday. The goal was simple: get locals to use smart meters and switch to rooftop solar. Officials want to modernize the grid. They also want to cut down on energy waste.

Technical experts from ANVIL walked the crowd through the perks of smart metering. These gadgets provide real-time usage data and fix billing headaches. They stop the guesswork. Consumers can now watch exactly how much power they burn every single day.

Vendors from Elmechent Enterprise and A&D Solar laid out the Rooftop Solar Scheme. They detailed the available subsidies and the process for getting panels on the roof. Residents could save significant cash by generating their own power.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Robin, Assistant Engineer Tsiamchi Ndang, and Town Council Chairman Mireulung attended the event. They urged the public to sign up for these green initiatives. The speakers claimed the shift would improve efficiency and curb costs for everyone. During the event, officials stressed that "smart metering and rooftop solar would help improve energy efficiency, reduce electricity costs and contribute to sustainable development."

Sub-Divisional Officer Kidosap chaired the meeting, which opened with a prayer from Pastor Haiku Nza. Junior Engineer Nguyunglo Kesen wrapped things up with a final thank you to the attendees.
