Kohima: The Nagaland Police has issued a formal advisory warning social media users and group administrators to exercise caution when sharing digital content. Authorities are targeting the spread of misinformation, stating that any posts deemed offensive, misleading, or likely to disrupt public harmony will trigger legal action.
The Police Headquarters in Kohima clarified that administrators hold direct responsibility for the messages, images, and videos circulated within their online groups. If prohibited content appears, officials intend to pursue both the original poster and the group administrator for failing to maintain safe digital spaces.
According to a statement from the Police Headquarters, "group administrators are responsible for monitoring the content shared within their groups." The department emphasized that this measure addresses rising concerns regarding provocative material on social media platforms.
A public relations officer for the Nagaland Police urged the public to verify all information before distributing it. Residents are encouraged to refrain from sharing any material that could potentially incite hatred, violence, or panic among the public.
