Agartala: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha told the state legislative assembly on Thursday that the government intends to keep the Permanent Resident of Tripura Certificate alive. He spoke to settle rumors regarding the document. Critics claim the state wants to scrap the certificate. The Chief Minister dismissed these accusations as false.
Saha defended his record during the session. He noted that his administration originally made the document mandatory for public jobs. "I have noticed that people are trying to misinterpret the state government's decision," Saha said. He insisted that the paper carries the same legal weight today as it always has.
Tipra Motha Party MLA Ranjit Debbarma brought the issue to the floor for a short duration discussion. The government recently pulled the certificate as a required document for state employment. Saha refused to explain the details behind that specific policy shift. He stated the matter remains sub-judice. The government plans to guard the interests of locals regardless of the current legal standoff.
