Kohima: Twenty-nine master trainers finished a three-day Social Emotional Learning workshop on September 3. The event took place at the In-Service Teachers Training-cum-Examination Centre in Pherima, near Medziphema. The Directorate of School Education, Samagra Shiksha Nagaland, and the non-profit Dream a Dream ran the program. It was the third phase of a statewide push for supportive classroom environments.
These trainers represent Educational Block Resource Centres across the state. They spent the sessions refining how they lead others, giving better feedback, and building support networks. Additional Director of School Education Deenabandhu Panda spoke to the group about the dangers of excessive screen time. He argued that modern digital habits hurt children and weaken their emotional development. Schools must step in now.
Trainer Moimei highlighted the practical benefits for the classroom. "The framework supports both educators and students in navigating daily pressures, fostering self-awareness, and developing mental resilience," she said. The trainers will now fan out to run district-level programs. This effort targets 176 schools across Nagaland. Dream a Dream operates in seven Indian states. They currently reach 2.3 million children by pushing life skills into the public school system.
