Kohima: A Nagaland Legislative Assembly committee arrived in Dimapur on July 31 to inspect how the Municipal Act 2023 is holding up on the ground. K Tokugha Sukhalu led the team, joined by Imkongmar, Dr Kekhrieilhoulie Yhome, A Nyamnyei Konyak, Dr Neisatuo Mero, Y Lima Onen Chang, and Ar Jwenga Seb.
The group split their time between town and rural stakeholders. They held meetings with Dimapur Town Gaon Buras, colony chairmen, and municipal councillors to hash out details on civic administration and service delivery. The committee also sat down with Village Development Board secretaries to discuss the 1978 Nagaland Village and Tribal Councils Act. Participants aired concerns about waste management, sanitation, government schemes, and tight budgets.
The committee documented these recommendations for further review. They plan to use the feedback to improve how local bodies operate across the state. K Tokugha Sukhalu noted the importance of this dialogue, stating, "The Committee took note of the issues and recommendations placed before it for further examination." Local officials provided full cooperation throughout the visit.
