Kohima: Krishi Vigyan Kendras across Nagaland are actively participating in the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan, a month-long campaign running through June 30 that promotes soil health and sustainable agricultural practices. The initiative aims to equip local farmers with the tools and knowledge necessary to maintain long-term crop productivity.

In Wokha, the ICAR KVK hosted over 200 participants at Old Riphyim village for demonstrations on organic farming and soil health management. To support nutritional security and crop diversification, organizers distributed biofortified maize, groundnut, and soybean seeds. Similarly, in Dimapur, experts collaborated with the Agricultural Technology Management Agency to train villagers on eco-friendly pest management and sustainable technologies.

The KVK in Zunheboto has reached more than 1,800 farmers across 16 villages by holding field demonstrations and providing fruit saplings alongside bio-based fertilizers and pesticides. Reflecting on the campaign's mission, Principal Scientist and Head Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia stated, "He emphasized that rural prosperity lies in sustainable and profitable farming systems supported by scientific knowledge and community participation."
