Nagaland Honors Top Government School Achievers in HSLC and HSSLC Exams

Kohima: The Directorate of School Education in Nagaland hosted a felicitation ceremony on June 18 to honor students who excelled in the 2026 HSLC and HSSLC examinations. During the event, School Education Advisor Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome recognized the top three government school performers across multiple streams and celebrated 22 institutions that achieved a perfect 100 percent pass rate.

Dr. Yhome emphasized the improving quality of public education in the state. He noted that government institutions are increasingly competitive with their private counterparts, particularly in commerce and arts enrollment. "In HSSLC (Commerce), we are doing better than private schools. In term of Arts stream, we have enrolment which is more or less becoming similar with the private schools," he said.

Principal Director of School Education, Shashank Pratap Singh, highlighted that the event recognized the discipline and perseverance of students who brought pride to their schools and families. He added that the state government remains committed to strengthening the education sector through better infrastructure and teacher capacity building.

The event also featured insights from student achievers and school administrators regarding successful academic practices. Additionally, representatives from the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation introduced the Vidyadhan Scholarship programme, which provides financial aid, mentorship, and career counseling to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged families.

Top honors were awarded to students including Sreeniti Mahapatra, who secured a rank in the HSLC examination, alongside HSSLC toppers Pooja Bharti and Moaakum T. Longkumer. The department continues to focus on enhancing the state school ecosystem to ensure accessible, quality education across all villages in Nagaland.
