Nagaland Governor Pushes for Speedier Tribal Infrastructure Projects

Kohima: Governor Nand Kishore Yadav met with the Tribal Affairs Department in Kohima on Thursday. He demanded tighter control over state resources and faster construction timelines for infrastructure. The meeting covered the status of several key initiatives, including the Development Action-Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan and the Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana.

Construction of new Eklavya Model Residential Schools is moving too slowly. Officials cited land disputes, poor power access, and missing water lines as primary hurdles for the new campuses. Three existing schools currently host 751 students. These facilities saw a perfect success rate in the 2026 HSLC exams.

Yadav wants better oversight on all projects. He called for coordination across the board. The Governor stated, "The importance of close monitoring, transparency and coordinated efforts among all stakeholders for the holistic development of tribal communities across Nagaland" is his primary focus moving forward.
