Kohima: A two-day orientation program for social audit officials concluded in Kohima on June 17, marking a shift in oversight protocols for the VB-GRAM-G framework. Hosted at the State Institute of Rural Development conference hall, the training session sought to prepare district and block level resource persons for a transition away from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
Forty-nine participants from across Nagaland attended the event, which was coordinated by the Ministry of Rural Development and the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. The curriculum emphasized new audit methodologies designed to bolster community oversight and program transparency.
The training featured expertise from national and state specialists, including Dr. Srinivas Sajja from the Centre for Social Audit in Hyderabad. Representatives from the Nagaland State Social Audit Agency and the Department of Rural Development also guided the sessions. Explaining the program's intent, organizers noted that the training was designed "to build the capacity of Social Audit Resource Persons at the district and block levels" as the state updates its audit procedures.
