Imphal: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has demanded urgent action from the central and Manipur governments following the killing of six Naga men. Rio condemned the act, describing it as a grave violation of human dignity that requires a swift identification and prosecution of those responsible.

The Chief Minister highlighted that the tragedy occurred shortly after the Naga community secured the unconditional release of 14 Kuki hostages. He noted that the hostages were treated with compassion and care during their time in captivity. Addressing the need for justice, Rio stated, "Accountability is essential. Only through a fair, transparent and credible process can a measure of confidence be restored among the people."

Rio urged the public to maintain calm across Nagaland, Manipur, the Northeast, and Myanmar. He warned that a loss of faith in government institutions could worsen an already volatile situation. While expressing his deepest condolences to the grieving families, he called on all communities to uphold the rule of law and preserve peace during this difficult time.
