Nagaland braces for severe weather as livestock officials fight swine fever outbreak

Kohima: Nagaland is currently managing a dual challenge as health officials ramp up efforts to control an outbreak of African Swine Fever while the state prepares for a period of harsh weather. The viral disease, which is highly contagious among pigs, has prompted the veterinary department to intensify its containment measures to prevent further spread across the region.

Alongside the animal health crisis, the India Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for the state. Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to impact the region between May 23 and May 26. Local authorities are advising residents to remain cautious as the combination of severe weather and disease management requires close attention from both the government and the public.
