Imphal: A Naga Village Guard died Wednesday morning after a firefight erupted in Noney district. The clash broke out at 8 am during a joint raid by CoBRA commandos and CRPF troops. They targeted a suspected volunteer camp located in Lavo village, which sits under the Noney Police Station jurisdiction.

Bullets flew for nearly 30 minutes. Twenty-two-year-old Lianbilung Liangmei, the son of Kadirang Liangmei and a resident of Noney Bazar, took multiple hits and died on the spot. Two other village guards were injured, though their names remain unknown. Officials reported that the guards' whereabouts are currently unclear.

The gunfight also left two members of the CRPF 186th Battalion hurt. Head Constable Radheshyam and Constable Jitendrakumar received medical attention after the engagement. Security teams flooded the area following the violence. They are now conducting a search for what officials describe as unauthorized arms and ammunition. No official statement exists yet. Authorities said, "Further information is awaited."
