Imphal: Multiple Naga organizations have condemned a violent assault and arson attack against Naga volunteers in Betiang village, Noney District. The incident took place on July 22. The Zeliangrong United Front-Jiangchui (ZUF-J) carried out the attack, drawing sharp rebukes from the Joint Tribes Council Manipur (JTCM) and the Western Command of the Naga Village Guard (NVG).
The JTCM represents the Zeme, Rongmei, Inpui, and Liangmai tribes. They labeled the aggression a cowardly assault on the safety and territorial integrity of their ancestral lands. The council issued a stern directive to all village authorities, organizations, and individuals. Anyone providing support, solace, or safe passage to Kuki elements, described by the council as Cannibal Narco-Terrorists, will be treated as a hostile actor.
The JTCM stated, "Let it be known that the JTCM will treat any alignment with the intruders and collaborators as an act of betrayal against our people."
The Western Command of the NVG declared a state of total war against internal subversion and atrocities. They issued Martial Directives mandating full resistance. The command warned that neutrality is no longer an option and hesitation will be viewed as complicity. They promised to use scorched-earth tactics and warned that they will not differentiate between foreign attackers and domestic conspirators.
The Rongmei Naga Luphuam Manipur (RNLPM) also expressed shock that the ZUF-J turned its weapons on its own people. They demanded that the ZUF-J immediately stop targeting community volunteers and civilians. The RNLPM noted that such violence only fuels fear and division, undermining the safety and unity of the entire Naga community.
