Imphal: The Working Committee of the Joint Tribes Council Manipur has ordered a total boycott of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh. He plans to visit Luangkao village on September 12. The committee rejected his trip, which includes a pilgrimage and a review of the Rani Gaidinliu Tribal Freedom Fighters Museum. Officials must stay away.
This protest stems from the May 13 abduction and murder of six Liangmai Naga men at Leilon Vaiphei village. It has been 119 days since the crime. The victims' bodies still sit in the JNIMS morgue in Imphal. No arrests exist. No investigation reached a conclusion. The committee stated, "The families of the deceased await closure, and the Naga people await accountability."
The group honors Rani Gaidinliu as a legendary freedom fighter and founder of the Heraka faith. However, they insist that justice takes precedence over development projects or public relations stunts. They issued a firm stance: "Justice first. Then everything else."
The committee warned all Naga leaders, village authorities, and civil society organizations to halt all meetings with government officials. This includes talks on relief, development, or politics. No entity should negotiate without a collective mandate from the Naga people. They warned the state that community patience has its limits.
