College Distributes Comilla Cotton Sanitary Pads in Lamphelpat

Imphal: College officials distributed sanitary pads to students and female staff at the College of Food Technology in Lamphelpat today. The event focused on the medical application of Comilla cotton. The plant usually supplies the textile industry. Now it helps local hygiene.

Professor Ng. Joykumar Singh opened the session with a welcome address. Dr. Narmada Hidangmayum, Secretary to the Vice Chancellor at CAU, Imphal, delivered the keynote. She detailed the specific uses of Comilla cotton in health products.

Dr. Bhavna C Soso, the college Medical Officer, led a technical session on menstrual health and hygiene. She shared tips for adolescent girls and women living in rural areas. The initiative aims to push regional resources toward better public health outcomes.

Dr. Th. Shantibala Devi, Deputy Director of Research at CAU, presided over the meeting. She praised the team for creating indigenous products. She said, "Continued research and outreach in rural health" remains a priority for the institution.
