Guwahati: Assam will hold a three-day tribute for singer Zubeen Garg, starting September 17. The event marks his first death anniversary. Activities center at Zubeen Kshetra. September 17 is officially Zubeen Divas. Events on this first day run until 5:30 pm.
Garima Saikia Garg, the musician's wife, wants fans to express their grief freely. She emphasized personal choice for mourners. "People can come and do whatever they feel comfortable doing. They can pray, sing songs, play music or pay their condolences in their own way," Garima stated. Organizers intend to keep evening programming brief.
The second day of the event begins at 9 am on September 18. Cultural performances will run until 7 pm. Religious observance dominates the final day on September 19. Attendees can expect Bhagawat Naam throughout the day. A Bhaona performance concludes the memorial, running from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm.
Assam Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah visited the Garg family studio on September 8. He met with officials to discuss logistics. The minister pledged state government support. He agreed to all necessary arrangements for the commemorative schedule.
