Guwahati: The Zubeen Garg Foundation and Zeal Creations started Project Notun this Sunday, September 27. They want to find raw musical talent across Assam. Garima Garg and Rahul Gautam Sharma announced the project to celebrate singer Zubeen Garg before his November 18 birthday. The team is now accepting submissions from aspiring artists until October 18.
You can enter work in four specific categories: lyrics, composition, singing, and music production. Organizers designed the project to help artists who lack a wider platform for their skills. They hope to match songwriters with composers and singers with producers to finish their work. Experts like Salim Merchant, Vishal Dadlani, Jeet Ganguly, Kunal Ganjawala, Papon, and Anurag Saikia will mentor the participants.
These pros will select the top performers to create three original tracks. The group plans to release the final songs on Zubeen Garg's birthday. This work honors Garg's commitment to supporting young artists and his long history in the music scene. Organizers chose the name because “Notun”, which means “new” in Assamese, reflects the initiative’s focus on discovering fresh musical voices from across the state.
