Imphal: Kamjong district officials committed to funding nutritional support for tuberculosis patients. District Level Officers will donate 1,000 rupees every month for half a year to individual patients. This program aligns with the Nikshay Mitra campaign under the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. Deputy Commissioner L.N. Kashung formalized the plan Tuesday at his Imphal camp office.
Kashung and a roster of staff immediately signed up to sponsor one patient each. Additional DC H.L. Jain attended the meeting, joined by Sub-Divisional Officers representing Kamjong, Phungyar, Sahamphung, and Kasom Khullen. The group tackled district health goals. They acknowledged systemic challenges, including infrastructure deficits and limited staff. Kashung demanded tougher screening and diagnostic testing to track down hidden infections across the region.
The meeting also shifted focus to the Vibrant Villages Programme-II. Officials must now pinpoint specific work projects for 54 border villages sitting near the Myanmar frontier. "DC Kashung called for intensified screening and diagnostic testing across the district to identify undetected infections." Staff will run awareness campaigns so residents can actually access these benefits. The session ended with the Deputy Commissioner pressing department heads to solve project delays and finalize rural development plans.
