Imphal: Kamjong district officials met Monday to fast-track development under the Vibrant Villages Programme-II. Deputy Commissioner L.N. Kashung chaired the session at the 2nd Manipur Rifles Complex Camp Office. He ordered staff to improve livelihoods and build sustainable infrastructure across the border region. Additional Deputy Commissioner H.L. Jain and various Sub-Divisional Officers attended the review.

Kashung wants results. He directed officials to visit villages, talk to residents, and craft project proposals that include long-term maintenance plans. The federal program targets strategic border zones within the Kamjong, Kasom Khullen, and Sahamphung blocks. Officials must coordinate with local SDOs to ensure every proposal meets community needs.

The district shifted focus later that day to combatting narcotics. Kashung held a District Level NCORD Committee meeting to evaluate enforcement against drug trafficking. Superintendent of Police Tholu Rocky and Divisional Forest Officer Nepolean Rongmei joined representatives from security agencies to discuss the situation. Kashung demanded tighter cooperation between these groups, noting that the administration must "strengthen efforts against drug trafficking and substance abuse in the district."
