Kohima: The Food Safety Administration of the Dimapur Zone hit five villages in Mon district on July 16 and 17. They targeted Longkei, Leangyu, Tuimei, Phuktong, and Mon villages. The team pushed for better hygiene to cut down on foodborne illnesses. They want people to stop ignoring the basics.

Food Safety Officer Tiaienla laid out the rules for local shop owners. Businesses must secure FSSAI licensing and registration to stay legal. Compliance is mandatory, not optional. Food Technician Zuthungbemo K Ngullie led the sessions under the banner, "Food Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility." He walked villagers through safe handwashing, proper food storage temperatures, and clean drinking water protocols.

The training sessions covered more than just germs. Officials warned about the dangers of biological contamination and insisted that residents wash all fruits and vegetables. They also broke down the nutritional benefits of fortified rice from the Public Distribution System. They cautioned against eating too much pork lard or repeatedly fried cooking oil. Residents heard warnings about high sugar and chemical additives found in common packaged snacks.

The team brought gear to prove their point. They held hands-on demonstrations and handed out flyers, posters, aprons, notepads, and pens. They also cleared up confusion between medically backed Oral Rehydration Solution and commercial ORSL drinks. Everyone got the same advice: read your food labels, balance your diet, and keep your kitchen clean.
