Kohima: Food Safety Administration teams hit five villages in Mon district on July 16 and 17. They visited Longkei, Leangyu, Tuimei, Phuktong, and Mon. The goal was simple. They taught locals how to stop foodborne illness through better daily habits.
Food Safety Officer Tiaienla pushed for FSSAI registration. Every business operator must follow these rules. Food Technician Zuthungbemo K Ngullie led sessions themed Food Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility. He showed villagers how to wash hands and handle food properly. He also warned about biological contamination and the need to scrub fruits and vegetables.
The team brought up major health risks. They cautioned against using cooking oil too many times. They also flagged the dangers of eating too much pork lard. Packaged snacks came under fire for high sugar and hidden additives. The trainers urged people to read every food label before they buy. Participants learned about fortified rice from the Public Distribution System. They also learned why doctors prefer ORS over commercial drinks like ORSL. The crew used demonstrations to make their point. They handed out flyers to ensure the lessons stuck.
