Agartala: Kailashahar MLA Birajit Sinha wants a judicial investigation into the mysterious death of Tripura Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar. He pushed for this inquiry during a media briefing this past Thursday. The silence surrounding the case has sparked massive public speculation.
Sinha insists a sitting High Court judge must lead the investigation to guarantee impartiality. He argues the public deserves the facts. He stated, "When a senior police officer dies under such circumstances, people deserve to know the truth."
The lawmaker noted that even if the death was a suicide, investigators must uncover the specific reasons behind the act. He warns that any inquiry short of a judicial probe will fail to restore public trust. He pointed out that citizens both inside and outside Tripura want answers. The MLA urged Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha to order the inquiry immediately.
Sinha claims the government must act now to remove the cloud of suspicion surrounding the department. Dhankar’s death has caused widespread shock across the state. This demand adds heavy pressure on the administration to clear the air.
