Mizoram Leaders Condemn Killing of Church Officials in Manipur Ambush

Aizawl: Religious and political leaders in Mizoram have strongly condemned the May 13 ambush in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, which resulted in the deaths of three church leaders. The victims, who were pastors affiliated with the Thadou Baptist Association of India, were killed when suspected militants attacked their convoy as they traveled between Kotzim and Kotlen villages. The group was returning from a religious event held in Churachandpur.

The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee honored the slain leaders as dedicated messengers of peace who were working to bridge divides during the ongoing regional instability. Manipur Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh also issued a condemnation of the violence, describing it as a senseless attack on civilians that hinders peace efforts. In response to the tragedy, the Kangpokpi district observed a complete shutdown to mourn the loss.
